RICH INHERITANCE

It's in human nature to believe that the grass is greener on the other side. We think that if we get one more thing, reach one more goal, or move into a higher tax bracket, the noise within us will subside. But faith in Jesus doesn't simply silence those longings—it redirects them. Scripture shows that our deepest longing can only be satisfied in Him, so we don't need to chase treasures that can never fulfill us.
In Jesus' parable of the hidden treasure, the Kingdom of God is like a treasure hidden in a field. The man doesn't hesitate because he understands the value of what he's found. He gladly gives up everything, knowing the treasure is worth infinitely more than anything he'll lose. In Ephesians 3, Paul reemphasizes the vast richness of our inheritance. Through Jesus, we receive a treasure greater than anything we could ever purchase or earn. We have no idea how rich our inheritance through Jesus is. It may not be what the world calls treasure, but it is treasure no money could ever buy.
Just watch TV for a while, and it's easy to see how much the world markets satisfaction. With one more purchase, promotion, skincare cream or vacation, we're told we can feel the peace and fulfillment we desire. But that promise always leaves us wanting more.
What if we really believed Jesus when He said He had more for us? What if we pursued Him like we pursue that next big thing that promises satisfaction? What if we let the Holy Spirit transform our desires, teaching us to seek Him above the things we believe will finally satisfy us? If we did, much would change. So let's believe Him, pursue Him, and let Him transform our desires.
APPLICATION: What am I looking to for the peace and fulfillment that only Christ can provide?
PRAYER: Lord, thank You for the rich inheritance You've given me through Jesus. Teach me to treasure You above everything else in this world. Amen.
